Historical Fencing lessons are oriented towards the practical study of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) tradition. HEMA include the study of weapons since the 13th century when we can find the first written references regarding the use of these weapons.
The weapons to work with in this discipline are diverse and they depend on the group’s preferences.
As an example, I include some of the most relevant weapons and my formative references, apart from self-taught research:
- Longsword: Sala Viguesa de Esgrima Antiga (SVEA) & Arte do Combate (AdC).
- Sword and buckler: SVEA.
- Rapier: SVEA.
- Migration period sword and shield (Viking weapons): Lessons with Sala Fenix in Bilbao & Laure Bornier.
Both regular group classes and specific private lessons are offered.
